Ystävänpäivän ottelu Kiekko-Espoota vastaan ei jättänyt tuloksen muodossa jälkipolville kerrottavaa HIFK:n osalta. Positiivisina asioina oli Veera Huotarin ja Miia Vainion paluu tositoimiin.
Avauserässä Kiekko-Espoo sai pidettyä Stadin Gimmat pois maalintekosektorissa ja erässä nähtiinkin vain yksi osuma kotijoukkueen vahvan yksilösuorituksen jälkeen. Toisessa erässä espoolaiset pääsivät jo kahden maalin johtoasemaan. Erän lopulla HIFK:lle tarjottiin jopa kahden pelaajan ylivoimaa, mutta tätä tilaisuutta ei kuitenkaan onnistuttu hyödyntämään maalin merkeissä.
Kolmannen erän alkupuolisko oli Gimmoilta ahkeraa tekemistä, mutta kiekkoa ei saatu toimitettua missään vaiheessa maaliviivan yli, vaikka pelaajia välillä löytyikin maalin sisältä. Runkosarjan voiton ottavan Kiekko-Espoon tehtailtua erässä maalit tarkoitti se Gimmoille karvasta tappiota.
